This is what you get back.

This is the email you get back after posting your submission.

Thank you for your email. Please accept this as acknowledgement of receipt.
If your email contains a query regarding the Auckland Governance Legislation Committee or the Local Government (Auckland Council) Bill, committee staff will respond to your query as soon as possible.

Submissions on the Local Government (Auckland Council) Bill
On 28 May 2009 the committee decided that no late submissions will be received (submissions close at 5pm on Friday, 26 June 2009), and that submissions that do not address specifically the matters raised in the bill will not be considered. If your submission falls into these categories staff will return your submission at the earliest opportunity.
If you have sent a submission by email, please do not send further copies by mail.

Written submissions
If your email forwards a submission on the bill and you have indicated that you do not want to appear before the committee to speak to your submission, please note that your written submission will be placed before the committee at the earliest opportunity, and no further contact will be entered into. Please note that your written submission is likely to be publicly released at some stage, either by the committee while it is considering the bill or when the committee reports the bill to the House, and that it may be published on the parliament website.

Oral submissions
If your email forwards a submission on the bill and you have indicated that you do want to appear before the committee to speak to your submission, please note that your submission will be placed before the committee at the earliest opportunity, and should the committee decide to hear submissions orally, committee staff will be in touch as soon as they can, to notify you of the date and time of any appearance. It is highly likely that you will be contacted and asked to attend at very short notice. Contact may be by email.

If you do attend a committee meeting and speak to your submission please be aware that a recent court ruling has held that a person may be liable in defamation if that person makes a defamatory statement in a situation that is protected by parliamentary privilege (such as an oral presentation to a select committee) and later affirms that statement (without actually repeating it) on an occasion that is not protected by parliamentary privilege.

Your submission will be publicly released. This is usually at the time you appear before the committee; however the committee may decide to release it earlier. If it has not already been released when the committee reports to the House, it will become publicly available at that time. Your written submission may also be published on the parliament website.

You may apply for any or all of your evidence to be heard in private or secret. Committees usually require reasons before agreeing to such requests. Please contact the committee staff if you wish to make such an application. Committee staff can be contacted at agl@parliament.govt.nz or by phone on (04) 817 8090.
